USING YOUR NEW PEPETOOLS JUMP RING MAKER

Select the inner jump ring core arbor. Insert the selected core into the keyless chuck with the wire holding hole end approximately 1/8” from the jaws of the chuck.
  • Note: on the smaller size jump ring cores size 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm the wire holding hole has been removed to prevent these sizes from breaking while winding coils.
Insert the end of the selected wire into the hole of the core arbor. If necessary, bend the end of the wire. Hold the wire firmly with your left hand and turn the keyless chuck handle clock wise with your right hand. Hold the wire tightly against the coil of wire as you turn the handle. This will produce a nice tight coil which is necessary for clean cutting of the jump rings. The coiled wire should not be longer than 3”.
  • Tip: When using the smallest 4 mandrels, because there are no holes in the mandrels, simply push the end of the wire into the chuck and start to wind. This can be done with any size mandrel, which will mean that the coil will slide off the mandrel when you're done winding instead of having to cut it off the mandrel.
Remove the coiled wire from the inner core arbor. The end that is inserted into the arbor hole may be clipped or lifted out. Clip off or bend either end that may be sticking out above the coil. This will insure that the coil will lay flat in the V bed of the coil holding devise.

Remove the cover of the coil holding devise, be careful not to lose the springs under the cover.
Rub Pepelube on one side of the coiled wire from end to end. This special lubricant is necessary as it lubricates the cutting blade and aids the cutting process.
Place the coiled wire into the coil holding devise making certain that the lubricated side of the coil is up and the coil butts up against the stopping bracket.
Place the 1 1/4” circular blade into position on the blade arbor. The name on the blade must be facing the arbor. Secure the blade arbor with the blade attached on to the No. 30 Foredom hand piece.
  • NOTE: The 1 1/4” blade is able to cut wire gauges up to 14 gauge.
Slide the No. 30 HP on to the HP holding collar. Use the coil holding cover to center the blade between the slot on the coil holding cover. Tighten the handpiece holding screws lightly, not excessively, located in the on top of the holding collar. The blade will now be centered on the holding collar and will be centered in the cutting groove on the coil holding devise.
Place the cover over the coiled wire and replace the hold down nuts. Hold the cover down with your fingers right over the coiled wire. Tighten the nuts firmly but not excessively. Be certain that the cover is level over the coiled wire.
Snap the No. 30 HP with the holding collar on to the flex shaft. Make certain that the rotation of the blade is CCW, spinning from right to left.
Secure a stop for the coil holding on a bench. This is necessary so that you may have both hands free when cutting the jump rings.
Place the coil holding devise with the end that the coil is on against the stop. Place the hand piece holding collar with the HP and blade in place on the coil holding devise. Run the flex shaft at full speed and with both hands and a light grip; pull the collar evenly towards you slowly. Once the cut is complete, remove the jump rings from the holder.
